Damate is investing over RUB 8.5 billion to double the capacity of its turkey breeding reproducer in the Tyumen region.

Damate Group, Russia’s largest turkey producer, has launched a project to expand the capacity of its second-order turkey breeding reproducer in the Tyumen Region. Upon the launch of the facility's second phase, its capacity will more than double—rising from 12 million to 25 million hatching eggs per year.
Construction is underway in the Uporovsky District of the Tyumen Region. Investment in construction, installation, and equipment procurement will exceed 8.5 billion rubles. The project is funded by Damate’s own resources, with JSC Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank) acting as the financial partner.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase was attended by Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor, Damate CEO Naum Babayev, and distinguished guests.
Today, Damate is the only turkey producer in Russia with its own parent flock, a key competitive advantage for the company. Maintaining breeding reproducers eliminates the need for imports, optimizes logistics, and reduces storage times. Hatching eggs are transported over short distances, which minimizes transit losses, enhances egg quality, and maximizes hatchability. Furthermore, locating facilities across different regions of the country mitigates biological risks to the business.
The project will be implemented in stages, with completion scheduled for the end of 2029. It entails the construction and launch of five poultry units, including housing for replacement young stock and the parent flock, as well as a manure composting site. A crucial aspect of the project is the development of modern infrastructure, including the installation of external utility networks and access roads.
Damate’s existing breeding reproducer in the Tyumen Region currently houses a turkey parent flock of 138,000 birds. The launch of the project's second phase and the expansion of the breeding facility's capacity will increase the parent flock to 304,000 birds.
"Damate Group is a long-standing and reliable partner for our region. Implementing this new investment project will more than double the production of hatching eggs and meet the growing needs of poultry complexes. This major agricultural enterprise will create new jobs for local residents and generate additional tax revenue for the regional budget. I thank Damate for its cooperation and contribution to ensuring food security for both the region and the country. Overall, we see that the Tyumen Region’s agro-industrial complex remains attractive to investors and is evolving into an increasingly modern, high-tech sector of the regional economy," said Alexander Moor, Governor of the Tyumen Region.
The first hatching eggs from the breeding reproducer's second phase are expected to be produced in the second quarter of 2028. All hatching eggs produced there will be supplied to Damate’s turkey production complex in the Penza Region.
"For Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank), import substitution projects are of strategic importance. Thanks to our long-standing partnership with Damate, a turkey production industry has essentially been created in Russia. Back in the early 2000s, such products were nowhere to be found on store shelves, whereas today Russia ranks first in Europe and second in the world in terms of turkey production volume. Together with Damate, we have already implemented over ten major investment projects involving the industrial production and processing of turkey, duck, and lamb. The bank’s total financing for the company’s projects exceeds 90 billion rubles. Expanding the capacity of the breeding facility in the Tyumen Region marks a new step in developing a strategically important area for the industry: pedigree breeding," commented Boris Listov, Chairman of the Board of Russian Agricultural Bank. "Currently, the first phase of the breeding facility is operating at full capacity. All eggs produced there are already being supplied to Damate’s turkey production complex in the Penza region. The need to increase hatching egg production capacity stems from the expansion of the turkey meat production complex in the Penza region to 300,000 tonnes of slaughter weight per year," noted Naum Babayev, CEO of Damate.
